Impact of Planning your Travel in Advance

10:46 AM | Publish by Apurva

How many times with how many people it has happened that we want to go for a family holiday, but either rooms are not available or the  travel ticket are not available or the tickets and rooms are available but they are too expensive to afford and finally we stay at our homes and crib about not finding anything and spoil the mood of entire family? Even if you still travel but when you come back, you feel that you didn’t explore the entire place and you were cheated by your travel agent.

I won’t be wrong if I say it happens lot of times and with most of us. But have we ever tried to understand the root cause of it? It happened because we have not prepared a proper travel plan. This is the negative impact of not planning your travel much in advance of your expected travel dates.

Now I will share some of my real examples of impact of planning your travel in advance. This might be an eye opener for you, and will definitely motivate you to plan your travel in advance.

A couple of years back I went for a family vacation to Kerala (God’s own country). One of my office friend also showed his interest of travelling to Kerala with his family at the same time for the same period and duration. We both were planning to visit Kerala in Dec and had planned to spend the 31st Dec night on a houseboat. Needless to say, we were planning to visit during the peak period. I asked him that let us plan together and do the booking 3 months in advance. He said, he doesn’t believe in planning much ahead in time and we do the booking mid Dec.

I went ahead and took the quotes from various travel agencies, explored all the various options and booked the best of the hotels, amenities, facilities and food and 1 night stay in full house boat of my own with New Year celebration cake, wine, fishing, food etc. for a family of 5 adults and for 8 nights stay for Rs. 80K. When my friend went for the same itinerary in mid Dec, first of all he didn’t get the same itinerary, he got fewer facilities, just descent hotels and a houseboat on sharing basis for a family of 2 adults for Rs. 80K. This is the impact of not planning your travel in advance.

Another example, I went to honeymoon to Bangkok and Pattaya. Again I did all my booking 3 months in advance. My stay for entire honeymoon period was all 5 star hotels and premium services taken, still the honeymoon costed me at least 40% cheaper that it normally costs if you do not plan in advance.

Trust me, if you plan you long holiday at least 2-3 months in advance and short holiday a month in advance, you can easily save up to 30%-40% of the cost.

Another latest example, I am traveling to Goa in late March for a family vacation and since I have done the booking a month advance, I have already got a discount of 30% on my resort stay.

Impact of planning your travel in advance is huge and brings lot of satisfaction, value for money and enjoyment.

You still don’t believe it. Try it to believe it.
