Fantastico Historical Places in India

India has a very rich historical heritage. Many rulers have come and gone and ruled India. Many of these rulers have built some fantastico historical monuments which are famous worldwide. Lot of tourists from all over the world come and visit these rich historical heritage of ours.

Let us look at some of the most famous and fantastico historical monuments that we have in India.

Taj Mahal
Whenever we speak of historical monuments, the first thing come to our mind is the magnificent Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal is also named as one of the eight wonders of the world. This beautiful white marble monument is situated in Agra on the bank of river Yamuna. This monument was built by the emperor Shah Jan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal.

Hawa Mahal
This historical monument is situated in the pink city of India, Jaipur. It represents the heritage of the Royal Rajputs of Rajasthan. This palace, made of red and pink sandstone, was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh for the women of the royal families, so that they can see the processions from the windows of this palace. This palace is also called the ‘Palace of Wind’, as the architecture of this palace is such that, whichever place you are standing at, you will always feel the cool breeze.

Qutub Minar
Situated in the Indian capital Delhi, this is the tallest stone tower in India. This again has its foundation in the Mughal period.  It has some 379 steps which lead to the top of the tower. Building such huge tower with stones during those time is really very commendable.

Gateway of India
Situated in Mumbai, Gateway was built during the British rule. This fantastico monument was built to commemorate the visit King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay. Tourists have a major attraction towards this monument due to its location, Apollo Bunder and the beautiful view of the Arabian Sea.

Sanchi Stupa
Sanchi Stupa is situated in the heart of India, i.e Madhya Pradesh. This monument was built by the Maurayan Emperor Ashoka, in the honour of Lord Buddha. This unique and fantastico monument has number of Buddhists stupas, monasteries etc.and embarks the Buddhists architecture.

Victorial Memorial
This beautiful and fantastico monument is a major tourist attraction in the eastern part of the country and is situated in the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. This hall was dedicated to Queen Victoria and built during the British rule.

Charminar
This magnificent monument is situated in Hyderabad. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah to protect its empire from the epidemic of plague. This place is surrounded by the hustle and bustle of people and the lively bazars. The tourists coming here are attracted towards the colorful bangles, artifacts, and clothes.

Mysore Palace
This palace is with no doubt the biggest and most glorious palaces in India. Situated in the Mysore city in Karnataka, this palace attracts lot of tourists for its beautiful architecture and especially the lighting show at night which gives all together a new life to the palace.

These are some to the fantastico historical monuments built by various emperors and rulers in India. They symbolize the rich cultural and historical heritage of India.
