Navigation Technology has grown from Toddler to Man

8:30 AM | Publish by Apurva

Time has changed, human intelligence has grown, technology has changed over the years and just like child grows from toddler to Man over the years, similarly Navigation technology has grown over the years, There was a time when people used to navigate their path through position of stars, then through direction of air, sailors through direction of the flow of water and air, explores through magnetic compass, Kings through sun rays or asking people by word of mouth as they use to travel from one place to another and now we are so technically advanced that irrespective of whether we are a sailor, an explorer, adventurer, or a common man who has lost his or way, uses Navigation system to find their right way towards their destination . The good part is that maximum times the google maps do provide us with correct navigation and direction without the help of anyone.

So far so good, but the sad part is , all the previous basic navigation technologies which were natural in nature like position s of stars, direction of wind/air, flow of water, sun rays etc. are getting diminished. I am absolutely not saying that we should not get technologically advanced, but what I want to say is that we should not forget knowledge related to ground facts. Reason is that today when we are travelling to an unknown destination and if suddenly the internet/GP connection fails and your navigation system stops working, we start feeling handicapped. This should not be the case. This is only happening because we are growing in technology but losing our roots, the core knowledge which is the backbone of these advance technologies. Growing does not mean forgetting the roots and basics of life. It means making your basics strong and then grows to uplift the society as a whole.

Don’t worry, I am one of you who has lost his strengths on the roots as I am getting more and more technically advanced and realizing this as I am writing this article. Let us try to make an conscious effort that next time when we go out especially for a vacation, let us try to find out the direction using our basic principles along with the navigation system so that we don’t panic in case technology fails.

What is important to remember is that roots define us and technology we build. Just now as I am writing, I realized that recently we were travelling to a village by our car and were using navigation system for the directions. After travelling for an hour suddenly our network broke and the navigation system stopped working. It actually created a bit of panic condition for us because there was no one from whom we could have asked the direction. Then according to the direction of the sun, we took our direction and moved ahead for half hour and finally found a person who could tell us the right direction which luckily we were already on. Finally after half an hour, the navigation system also started working and we reached our destination.

Seriously, now it is making me realize that it is so important what we should be well versed with our basics and traditional methods of navigation along with the advance technologies too.
