Fantastico Sandwich Ideas

8:16 AM | Publish by Apurva

Sandwich… the mouth starts watering with the name of it. I am sure that every one of us loves sandwiches. Generally we get to eat veg toast sandwiches, cheese sandwich or grilled sandwiches in the resturants and outside stalls which is categorized as a junk food. But have you ever thought that sandwiches can also be made fantastico and healthy with lot of variations. These healthy variations made at home will not even be called as junk food.

So let us look at some of the fantastico ideas to bring a new twist to the sandwiches

Desi Mayo Sandwich
Whenever we think of mayonnaise, lot of calories come to our mind. Some people avoid mayonnaise due to its high in calories. So leave that fattening mayo behind and adopt our desi version of mayo, which is nothing but our hung curd. Yes, hung curd can be substituted for mayonnaise. Just take some hung curd in a bowl, add the required seasoning to it. Now to this you can add the grated vegetables like carrot, cabbage, peas, and onions and make a mixture. To make it more interesting, you can add some ginger garlic paste and green chilies to it. Now put this mixture in between the bread and either toast or eat it raw. I am sure you will find the taste better than the mayo sandwich and eat it guilt free of consuming calories as this is a very healthy sandwich.

Green Cheesy Sandwich
Cheese sandwiches are loved by all. But cheese again though rich in protein, is also high in calories. But if we enhance the cheese by adding more nutritive value to it and additionally give a new taste to it, cheese sandwiches can also become fantastico. That is why I thought of adding this new zing to the cheese. What we can do is, to the normal cheesy dip, add some green chutney or other greens like dil leaves, spring onion, pudina leaves etc. This gives all together a different flavor to the cheese and also enhances its taste and nutritional value.

Indian pancake Sandwich
This is my version of a very healthy sandwich, which not only tastes good but is high in nutritional value. What we can do is, soak any dal like yellow moong, green moong etc and next day grind it to make a dosa kind of batter. To this add the seasoning and vegetables like grated carrots, tomatoes, onions and make a pancake out of it. Now these pancakes can be put in between the bread and toasted to make a sandwich out of it. To enhance the taste, you can apply a green chutney or cheesy dip on the bread slices. Is yummy and fantastico sandwich is loved by kids and we moms are satisfied that we have given some healthy food to the kids.

Chocolate Sandwich
This I cannot say as a healthy sandwich, but once in a while it is okay to eat such cheat food and satisfy the craving of our tongue. Chocolate sandwich is very simple to make. You have to just add either some chocolate syrup or chocolate flakes on the bread slices and toast it. Can also add some nuts in between to give that crunchy taste. This fantastico sandwich is favorite among the kids.

So after reading these yummy variations of sandwiches, I am sure you won’t like to eat the normal sandwiches that we generally get in the restaurants anymore. So think of such fantastico ideas and give a new and healthy twist to your favorite sandwiches.
