India- The land of some Fantastico Chaats

Chaats are weakness of every Indian. The mouth starts watering with just the name of the chaat. India being a diverse country, you will find different varieties of chaats in different regions. The names and flavors may be different by the heart and soul of the chaat remains the same.
So let us look at some fantastico Indian chaats

Pani Puri
This is the most famous chaat all over the country. It is known by different names like pani puri in the western part, gol gappe in the north, puchka in the eastern part of the country etc. It is made by filling the crispy puris in the spicy water made of pudina and jaljeera. Some people also add mashed boiled potatoes, sprouts or boondi in the puris before filling the spicy water in it.
Aloo Chaat
Aloo chaat is the favorite chaat generally prepared in the Northern part of the country. It is made with fried aloos (potatoes) mixed with onions, green chillies, some spices and served with a spicy chutney. It is also prepared as a side dish in many households.

Aloo Tikki Chaat
Mouth starts watering with the name of aloo tikki. It is made with a crisp shallow fried aloo tikkis, served with chole, dahi and some spicy chutneys garnished with some sev. The heart of this chaat is the tikki. The more crispy and crunchy the tastier the chaat is. In the Western part of the country a variation of this chaat with the name Ragda Pattice is prepared. Here instead of Chole a ragda made of dry green mutter is prepared.

Bhel Puri
Bhelpuri is very famous in Mumbai. Specially on the beach side you will find lot of vendor serving the crunchy bhelpuri. It is made with puffed rice to which chopped onions, tomatoes, boiled potatoes are added along with some sweet and spicy chutneys and topped with lot of sev.

Dahi Vada
This is one of the chaat items found in all parts of the country. The name and the preparation may be different in different regions. In this small vadas made of dal are soaked in water and then served with lots of dahi on its top along with spices and some sweet chutney.

Papdi Chaat
Papdi chaat is also very mouthwatering. This chaat is made with papdis. The papdis are placed on a plate and then some fried aloos, onions, sprouts are put over it. And then dahi is spread all over generously along with sweet and spicy chutneys and some spices. This chaat is very famous in North India.

Sev Puri
Sev puri is also prepared with papdis, only the preparation is bit different from the papdi chaat. Here the papdis are placed on the plate. On each papdi some boiled potatoes onions, tomatoes, chutneys are placed. And then generously garnished with lot of sev on top of each puri.

There are lot of other fantastico variations of chaats prepared in different regions along with the one mentioned above. The heart of all the chaats is the chutney used in it. The chutneys have to be very perfect and fantastico for the chaat to taste good.
