Today i witnessed a fantastico republic day celebration in my society. Ours is a small but very beautiful society named Swarna CHS. We are staying here for past one and half years. The people staying here are very friendly and very active.
All the festivals, national days are celebrated at a very grand scale here. It was the first time that i have attended the Republic day celebrations here. The preparations were going around for last 2 days. The entire garden was decorated with the tri-colour dupattas. In the evening, i could see the bunch of ladies taking the practice sessions for the kids, some looking after the music and other arrangements. With the efforts that the committee members were putting in, i sensed that i was going to be a fantastico event.
In the morning all the society members were asked to gather in the garden at 8.30 am in either white, orange, green or blue dresses. But as expected the program could start only by 9 as people took time to come out of their houses. As we all gathered down, we all were given a small flag like stickers to stick it on our dresses. The event started with the flag hoisting which was done by all the senior members in the society and the kids sang the national anthem thereafter which they sang very beautifully.
Then there was a march past done by all the small kids of the society. They all were looking so cute with such innocent faces marching to the drums. The ladies had done really a very good job to teach them so nicely
We all then got seated around the stage. The program began with some dance performances from the kids on the patriotic songs. I could remember my school days when i use to participate in such dance and singing during the republic and independence day. All the kids had practiced a lot to put such a beautiful and well synchronized performances.
In between there were also some patriotic songs sung by the kids. Then came Mr. Bhatt, who is a professional singer. He sang some lovely patriotic songs which really brought in jitters. He sang them in such great emotions that it rose the patriotism from within.
Then came the refreshments time. Some awesome snacks were served to everyone with tea. I thought after the refreshments the program would end. But there were some more surprises waiting for us. The organizers had also arranged some fun sports activities for us. Different races like the sack race, lemon and spoon race, tug a war, parent children race and few other small activities were arranged. I participated in a few of them and enjoyed a lot.
Along with the sports activities there were also other competitions like, fancy dress and drawing competitions held for the kids of all ages. The entire program ran almost till the afternoon. We all really had a very good time witnessing such a fantastico event. I must say that all the organizers had really put in some great hard work to make the event so successful.
