Peppy Pineapple

1:19 AM | Publish by Apurva

Whenever I pass the fruit stalls in the supermarket or at the vegetable market, the first thing that catches my sight is the pineapple. This peppy pineapple, with its strong aroma and a very distinguished appearance, attracts me towards it every time. There are very few fruits that can match the flavor and the appearance than that of a pineapple. One more thing great about pineapple is that it is an all-season fruit, so you don’t have to wait for its season to have it.

Now why do I call it peppy, well it is one fruit that not only in itself is great, but to which ever food preparation you add it, it will make that dish much more fantastico. As it is tangy and sweet in nature, it goes well any other ingredients. You can use it in salads, sweets, raitas, cake and many such other things, it will always pep up your dish.

This peppy pineapple is has got a lot of nutritional value too. It is a source of Vitamin C and manganese along with other vitamins and mineral too. So consuming pineapple regularly, will add up the nutritional value of your meals.

Let us look at some of the fantastico use of this peppy pineapple.

Pineapple Sheera
This is one of my most favorite dessert. You will find pineapple sheera in most of the south Indian restaurants. The pineapple gives an all together new flavor and a very beautiful colour to the normal sheera. It can be very easily prepared too. All you have to do is, while making the normal sheera, add the pineapple puree and few pineapple pieces to it after roasting the rava. The sweet and tangy flavor of the pineapple gives a lovely taste to the sheera and leaves you craving for more.

Pineapple Raita
Pineapple raita is also very popular. This sweet and tangy raita goes very well with the parathas. Its preparation is also very simple. Just take some fresh curd and beat to make it smooth in texture. To this add the chopped pineapple pieces and some sugar. To add more zing you can add the chaat masala to it also. And make sure to chill it before serving.

Pineapple Cake
Pineapple cake is loved by all. The peppy pineapple gives a very different flavor to the cake. As we make a normal cake, just add the pineapple puree and essence to the cake batter and bake like we bake the normal cake. While decorating the cake, do put some pineapple slices on top of the cake to make it more fantastico.

Pizzas and Salads
Pineapple goes very well in the pizzas and salads too. Along with other vegetables, just put some pineapple pieces on the pizza and salads. It complements the vegetables very well and every time a pineapple piece comes to your mouth in a bite, it simply peps up the entire taste.

So we have seen the fantastico recipes that we make with this peppy pineapple. So next time when you go out for vegetable and fruit shopping do not forget to pick up the peppy pineapple.
